Apostille Services – Find the Right Path

Not all apostilles are the same. The correct route depends on who issued your document:

  • State documents – birth certificates, marriage licenses, death certificates, court orders, and notarized documents – are apostilled through the Secretary of State in the issuing state.
  • Federal documents – FBI background checks, NARA records, naturalization certificates, and other federal agency documents – are apostilled through the US Department of State.

Choosing the wrong path results in rejection from the government office. The list of services below explain exactly which documents go where, what each process involves, and how much it costs.

Browse the pages to find the right path for your documents, or use the Order tool to get started immediately.
